Help “Bubble Girl” Save Her SD, Life, & Home!!
Hello all!! I’m a disabled, autistic, service dog mom with NO HEAT/HOT WATER, that’s also dealing with/caused by the same issues that led to SEVERE mold and water damage. Please help me and my amazing service dog!!
Update, 12/12/22
*PLEASE NOTE:* I know the below is a mess, and I’m working to update it. It was written under high stress and feelings of powerlessness. That got a bit confounded with trauma over how I was pushed from my job teaching a while back (due to ableism)…bc if that hadn’t happened, I’d have had the financial power to help MYSELF.
I’m working to update this, bc I’m finally going to be starting Phase 1 of repairs soon. Thanks to all that can help. - Kelly

I was in the planning stages of creating my own center for neurodiverse education when I found that extensive mold and water damage had struck part of my basement. I opened a door downstairs for cheaper, more reliable Internet to be installed, and my life hasn’t been the same since.
Since this happened in a contained, low traffic area, I had no idea there was anything wrong. The heat is now also out, because the oil company doesn’t want to work in the area until the mold is addressed. But it’s a pricy job, and I still need to fundraise for it as part of this (I was quoted $8,400 for the new boiler & installation, the number for the mold damage is pending.)
A big concern is that if the heat is out for too long, and it gets too cold, that pipes could burst...and I can’t deal with any more being added to this situation.
If anyone would like to help us, it would be SUPER appreciated!!
Any donations will help with the following:
- Protecting an amazing service dog
- Assisting with my health needs (mold is awful for my conditions, and the cold isn’t great either)
- Saving my home, so that I can live in a small area, and do rad things to help the community with the rest of it!
- Ensuring the safety of the whole building, so that I can create the neurodiverse and disabled education center of my dreams.
I worked for years to improve my health after dealing with chronic illness, and the trauma of being pushed out of my job via both ableism and retaliation (my insurance was blocked for 8 months by my employer when I attempted to file a discrimination lawsuit). I dealt with a long period of illness, guilt and mourning, as I was no longer there to protect students...via things like ensuring communication was always available, that toys were safe, that meltdowns weren’t induced for ridiculous reasons, and that lessons were always meaningful and accessible to all. (Safety and accessibility were sadly not prioritized at my job, and a child even escaped in the middle of Manhattan when my safety warnings weren’t heeded.)
While I’m no longer able to travel two ways to a physically and emotionally toxic job anymore, I *can* work at what I love if the center is right here. Please help me to teach again!
Thank you to anyone willing and able to help us with donations, or by sharing this link!

PS: The mold has caused issues with keeping up with this fundraiser in the past, as my health was affected.
This whole situation has been extremely traumatizing, and I’ve also had to deal with several acute health situations, while also rushing to access the last of higher quality health coverage (I soon start Medicaid).
Re-writing this and addressing donors were extremely difficult for a long time, both because of my health, and the trauma involved. Feeling like I had no chance to get this all funded forced me into dissociation and denial when it came to facing this, several times.
I’ve struggled with it for a long time...but I’m finally getting there! Thanks so much to those that have had patience with me. Much love
