We rescued Bubbie on December 9, 2020. He was just about to turn 4 two days before Christmas. He’s the sweetest boy ever that loves car rides, long walks, naps, and giving sloppy kisses among other things. He’s an incredibly active dog, always running around the house and jumping onto things.
Fast forward to October 13, 2025, and suddenly out of nowhere, he’s having difficulty jumping up, splooting on his stomach (he has to lay on his side now), going to the bathroom, and not eating. He started going to the bathroom inside the house later that week as well. So we took him to the vet to get his bloodwork done. No issues were found. The next week, the issues seemed to be getting worse. We took him to the vet again, this time for x-rays. They found some inflammation near his prostate which would explain the bathroom issues as well as the sapping of strength in his hind legs. He also lost 10 lbs. in those 2 weeks. We gave him some antibiotics to hopefully bring the inflammation down but if it still persists, we have to take him back for an ultrasound.
That gets done and they find out it’s a cancerous mass on his prostate and it has spread to his lungs. It’s a type of cancer that’s very hard to detect and usually when it does, it’s too late. The vet says he could have days, maybe months left. We decide to put him on NSAIDs and change up his diet to hopefully bring the inflammation down and slow down the spread in his lungs. After 2 days he has responded positively. He’s eating again, being more active, and even able to jump up every now and then.
We decided to start this GoFundMe to help out with the vet bills, his medication, and new diet. In 3 weeks, those 3 visits cost over $2,500. So if you’ve met Bubs or he’s helped put a smile on your face through his social media posts, please help us to ensure that he can live out the rest of his life the best way possible. Even if you can’t donate, please share this as any help is greatly appreciated.
