Help Bubba Win His Battle Against Cancer

I never imagined I would find myself in a situation where I’d have to ask strangers for help, but for my little Bubba, I am willing to move heaven and earth. Today, I am reaching out to your hearts because my lifelong companion needs me now more than ever.

Our Story: Love at First Sight

Nine years ago, I walked into a shelter, and there he was. The moment I put my hand near his cage, he gave me a lick while looking straight into my eyes. It was an instant connection. Since that very day, Bubba has been my best friend. He goes everywhere with me, loves car rides, and his favorite game is jumping 2ft to catch his ball. He sleeps by my side and follows me all over the house. He is the most loyal, noble, and affectionate dog you could ever meet; he has the superpower of making anyone fall in love with him with just a sweet look and a lick.

He has been as tough as an oak his whole life. In fact, veterinarians are always surprised because he looks so much younger than he actually is.

The Devastating News

Sadly, we recently received a crushing blow. Bubba has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his left shoulder blade. It is an extremely aggressive and deadly type of bone cancer, with a very high risk of spreading to his lungs, which would complicate everything even further.

We are not giving up on him under any circumstances. That is why we have decided to move forward with the best possible treatment to save him and prolong his life: amputation of the affected leg followed by chemotherapy sessions.

We already have the surgery scheduled for July 1st, as it was the only open date they had available at the clinic. However, the vets told us that if another patient cancels sooner, they will call us immediately for emergency surgery. Our priority is to get him into the operating room as soon as possible to beat the clock.

Why We Need Your Help

The financial reality is overwhelming, and we need to raise these funds against the clock.

The amputation surgery costs $7,000.

The chemotherapy (according to our research) can range between $3,000 and $10,000—a budget we are still finalizing, but we will figure out how to face it when the time comes.

On a personal level, things are very difficult. I am unable to work due to diabetes and other health issues stemming from it, so I rely on my family's support for my own daily expenses. Additionally, we have three other dogs at home (two who have been with me for 5 years and another for 9) who also need care and vet visits.

This terrible news represents an enormous financial burden for our family, which is already living month-to-month.

Ayuda a Bubba a ganar la batalla contra el cáncer

Jamás imaginé que me vería en la situación de pedir ayuda a desconocidos, pero por mi pequeño Bubba soy capaz de mover cielo y tierra. Hoy recurro a sus corazones porque mi compañero de vida me necesita más que nunca.

Nuestra historia: Amor a primera vista

Hace 9 años entré a un refugio y ahí estaba él. En cuanto acerqué mi mano a su jaula, me dio una lamida mirándome fijamente a los ojos. Fue un flechazo instantáneo. Desde ese mismísimo día, Bubba ha sido mi mejor amigo: va conmigo a todas partes, le encanta los paseos en coche y su juego favorito es saltar 2ft para agarrar su pelota, duerme a mi lado y me sigue por toda la casa. Es el perro más franco, noble y cariñoso que puedan conocer; tiene el superpoder de enamorar a cualquiera con solo una mirada dulce y un lametazo.

Toda su vida ha sido un roble. De hecho, los veterinarios siempre se sorprenden porque aparenta mucha menos edad de la que tiene.

La terrible noticia

Lamentablemente, hace poco recibimos un golpe devastador. A Bubba le han diagnosticado osteosarcoma en el omóplato izquierdo. Es un tipo de cáncer óseo sumamente agresivo y mortal, con un riesgo altísimo de propagarse a los pulmones, lo que complicaría todo aún más.

No vamos a rendirnos con él bajo ningún concepto. Por eso, hemos decidido seguir adelante con el mejor tratamiento posible para salvarlo y prolongar su vida: la amputación de la pata afectada y sesiones de quimioterapia.

Ya tenemos la cirugía programada para el 1 de julio, ya que era la única fecha libre que tenían disponible en la clínica. Sin embargo, los veterinarios nos han dicho que si algún paciente cancela antes, nos llamarán de inmediato para operarlo de urgencia. Nuestra prioridad es que entre a quirófano lo antes posible para ganarle tiempo al reloj.

Por qué necesitamos tu ayuda

La realidad económica nos supera y necesitamos recaudar los fondos a contrarreloj.

La cirugía de amputación tiene un costo de $7,000 dólares.

La quimioterapia (según lo que hemos investigado) puede oscilar entre los $3,000 y $10,000 dólares, un presupuesto que aún estamos por definir pero que ya veremos cómo afrontar.

A nivel personal, la situación es muy difícil. Yo no puedo trabajar debido a que padezco diabetes y otros problemas de salud derivados de ella, por lo que dependo del apoyo de mi familia para mis propios gastos cotidianos. Además, en casa tenemos a tres perritos más (dos que llevan 5 años conmigo y otra que lleva 9) que también necesitan sus cuidados y visitas veterinarias.

Esta terrible noticia representa una carga económica enorme para nuestra familia, que ya de por sí vive con lo justo.
