Bubba’s story
Bubba is a 3-year-old cat at The Cat Cottage who came from the Mat-Su Borough about a month and a half ago with serious ear problems. After several visits to AnnieVet, it became clear that the damage is severe. Bubba now needs a Total Ear Canal Ablation, a specialized surgery that will leave him deaf but should finally relieve the pain and recurring infections he has been living with. Bubba is friendly, and while Bubba may not hear a voice after surgery, Bubba will still feel care, safety, and love. The Cat Cottage does not put treatable cats down, and everyone involved is doing everything possible to give Bubba the chance to heal and have the life Bubba deserves.
This surgery costs $6,000 to $8,000. VCA Far Country has already granted about $2,700, and we need to raise $6,000 by September 18 so Bubba can have the operation and the six weeks of healing that follow. The Alaska Cat Cafe will withdraw the funds and give 100% of them to The Cat Cottage for Bubba’s ear surgery. The café’s 19-year-old owner has even gone without a paycheck so profits can go to the cats, but this bill is simply more than they can cover alone. This is the first time the community is being asked to step in for Bubba. If you are able, please help support Bubba’s surgery and recovery so Bubba can heal and eventually be adopted into a loving home ready to care for a deaf cat.
