Help Me Get Strabismus Surgery for Better Eye Alignment & Coordination
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I need strabismus surgery to correct the alignment of my eyes. I also have amblyopia (a “lazy eye”), which means my left eye will not regain vision. While the surgery won’t restore sight, it can significantly help with coordination, depth perception, and daily activities, which makes a big difference in my quality of life.
The specialist I need to see is 8 hours away in Denver, CO, because they are experienced with cases like mine. Even with insurance, surgery and travel can be costly, and I want to be prepared for all associated expenses.
Here’s a rough estimate of costs:
• Surgery & hospital fees: $5,000–$15,000 per eye (depending on complexity and insurance coverage)
• Travel & lodging: ~$300–$500 for the trip
• Meals & incidentals: ~$50–$100
• Recovery time: 1–2 weeks off work for initial recovery, plus follow-up appointments
My pole studio is generously hosting a fundraiser to support me, and I’ve started this GoFundMe to help cover expenses that insurance may not fully pay for. Every donation, share, or bit of support brings me closer to this important procedure.
Thank you so much for helping me take this step toward better coordination, depth perception, and confidence. Your support means the world!
