On what started as an ordinary Saturday night, everything changed in an instant for Bryson Harnage. While helping put out a backyard bonfire, Bryson’s pants caught fire, and within moments, he was severely burned and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the ER in Tallahassee and is now in the burn unit at UF Health Shands in Gainesville, fighting through unimaginable pain. Bryson has sustained 23% burns to both legs, including second- and third-degree burns. He is currently in the ICU and is expected to remain there for several weeks, followed by a long and difficult recovery.
Every day is a battle. Even with medication, the pain is intense, especially during daily wound care. Bryson has already undergone surgery using the RECELL system, an advanced treatment that uses his own skin cells to help regenerate and heal damaged tissue. This is a critical step, but just the beginning of a long road that will include additional procedures, rehabilitation, and months of recovery.
If you know Bryson, you know this: He’s a fighter. A teammate. A young man who loves baseball and life. Right now, that life is on pause, but his spirit isn’t. The financial impact of a burn injury like this is overwhelming. Between ICU care, surgeries, rehabilitation, travel, and time away from work, the costs will be significant. We’re asking for your help so Bryson can focus on what matters most—his healing. Every donation helps, every share matters, and every prayer is felt. Bryson has made it through the first days. Now comes the long road ahead. Let’s help carry him there.
From the Harnage Family: “We are holding tightly to our faith and are so grateful for the love, prayers, and support. We feel it every day. Thank you all!”
