My name is Bryson Dumas, and after serving 14 years in the United States Army, I was medically separated from active duty. During my time in service, I was honored to be a part of the 4th Special Operations PSYOP Group stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. I deployed multiple times to Iraq, Western, and Central Africa, participating in missions such as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and other humanitarian and SOF engagements. My roles included force protection, combating weapons and human trafficking, where the stress and trauma of these experiences have had a lasting impact on my mental health.

Currently, I am undergoing treatment at an inpatient facility for vets and first responders in Bandera, TX. I am part of their K9 program designed to help veterans like myself cope with anxiety, depression, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). This program has been a crucial part of my recovery, as it allows me to connect and heal with the support of a service dog. My assigned service dog, Omi, a Labrador/German Shepherd mix, has not only been my companion but also my lifeline in navigating the daily challenges brought on by my condition.

I am seeking funding to cover the costs associated with Omi’s training, maintenance, and ongoing care, which totals $5,500. With your financial support I can ensure that Omi receives the proper training to meet my specific needs, as well as the necessary medical care and supplies to maintain her health and well-being.
