*UPDATE* I will be lowering the fundraising goal here as I receive other outside donations, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Hello all! My name is Bryon Johnson, and I am a recent graduate of Fred C. Beyer High School, musician, and marching arts educator from California’s Central Valley. I am currently pursuing an Associates for Transfer in Engineering at Modesto Junior College (MJC), with plans to study Aerospace Engineering and minor in Music Education at a four-year university.
After a rigorous audition season, I am honored to earn a first-round contract with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps on the Mellophone for the 2026 Drum Corps International (DCI) season. DCI is an internationally recognized and highly competitive organization where performers train at a professional level and compete nationwide at venues such as the Alamodome, Center Parc Stadium, and Lucas Oil Stadium throughout this summer.
Participation in DCI comes with a significant financial responsibility as a performing member including tuition for the summer tour and travel for off-season training camps. While I have worked hard to save, I am reaching out for support to make this opportunity possible. In 2024, I was honored to earn a spot with Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps where I marched the summer of a lifetime and gained invaluable experience that has made be both a better performer, and educator. I stepped away for the 2025 season to balance academics and finances, allowing me to return stronger and more prepared for this season with your help and generosity!
Music has been a defining passion and influence of mine and I have dedicated countless hours to honing my craft as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator. Additionally, I’ve performed with and contributed to numerous community-based ensembles such as the Modesto Band of Stanislaus County, Open Mic Night and Jazz Events at the Queen Bean Coffee & Social House, SCMEA County Honor Ensembles, the MJC Community Night Band, and even winning an auditioned spot in a CASMEC All-State Ensemble. Outside of my performance experience, I serve my community as an Intern at Campbell & Associates Marketing and Advertising, Visual Instructor at Johansen High School, Music Technician for the Modesto City Marching Brigade, and Designer, Arranger, and Coach for Ustach Middle School’s Winter Winds Program here in Modesto.
The skills and experience I gain through DCI directly benefit my work as a marching arts educator, allowing me to give back to the community that has supported me throughout my journey in music. Any support, regardless of size, is deeply appreciated! If you are unable to contribute at this time I completely understand, and I would welcome you to pass this opportunity along to others who may be interested in supporting my cause.
Thank you greatly for your time and consideration!
