We are raising money for our youngest son. At the request of friends and family we have started this fundraiser due to most being long distances.
I will share how we arrived at this point, parts of his childhood, his diagnosis and a partial history description of his illness..
To describe Brynner, he is the youngest of 3 sons and also has a younger sister. Growing up he has always been very close to the second oldest son.
Brynner has always had a kind heart and looked out for others. He graduated high school in 2019 and had a hard time deciding whether to go to college, so he took some time off to decide. During this time he was stricken with several seizures, 5 in total within a 24 hour period. He was admitted to the hospital and was told that they couldn't explain the seizures and that the brain does things they couldn't explain. Jumping forward 4 month's, he found a job and went to work. He had been working for a few month's living at home with myself (dad), mom and his brother. Everything seemed like ordinary life again, we all did the same thing, try to get out of the work clothes as soon as possible. Then, one day after getting home from work, brynner had another seizure. We called 911, ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. With covid we weren't allowed to go with him in the ambulance nor be at the hospital with him.
Once he arrived at the hospital he received an Mri and was immediately sent to another hospital specializing in neurological issues where he was then given another mri with contrast. That’s when they found a tumor almost 2 inches in size. We were called and told to come to the hospital and that both my wife and myself would be allowed. We were then told that they would be doing surgery in 2 days to remove the tumor, and that the surgery would be about 8 hours long. We patiently waited for news about our son. The surgeon came to speak with us after the surgery and we were told that it has indications on glioblastoma multiforme, our hearts sank. They were only able to remove 65% of the tumor due to its location in my son's brain.
The follow up 2wks after surgery:
Pathology report has been sent to oncologist and glioblastoma multiforme is confirmed.
Please if you do not know what this type of brain cancer is capable of, please look it up. The more people we can make aware of it the better. Maybe we can make a difference with awareness.
Treatment: my son will be taking chemo and radiation concurrently 5 days a week for 6 weeks to try to manage the tumor growth.
All money raised will be for our sons treatment. My wife and myself both work to make ends meet. We know that everyone has been affected by covid in one form or another as we have we having to quarantine and miss work etc. One of us will need to drive Brynner each day for his treatment, about an hour drive each way. We will be taking turns leaving work early each day to do this. Due to his seizures, he is no longer able to be completely alone.
We completely understand if you’re reading this and are not able to make a donation, we do ask that you say a prayer for Brynner. All prayers and donations are greatly appreciated. Please share his story, all the prayers we can get will make a difference.
We will share updates as we receive them.
