While the rest of my transition has been a major glow-up, I have spent the last 18 months planning Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) and thought I was covered by my insurance. My journey recently hit a massive roadblock when CIGNA initially gave me an $800 copay estimate, only to pull the rug out and deny coverage entirely, citing a plan exclusion that left me facing a devastating $177,000+ bill.

Instead of giving up, I've pivoted: I am now pursuing surgery abroad, at a much lower, realistic total cost of approximately $40,000. This surgery is the essential next major step—it's not about looking pretty; it's about fixing the daily mind-games of dysphoria so I can finally move through the world with the confidence and security I deserve.
