Help Bryce's family battle cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jodie and my son's name is Bryce. Friday, June 25, 2021 started out as a routine day. Before the weekend ended, I heard the words "your son has cancer". As the saying goes "life changed in the blink of an eye".

Bryce had just celebrated his one-year anniversary at Freddys, a fast food restaurant. He was set to begin his senior year. His biggest decision was what car to buy, as he had been saving every penny for a year.

His hip started bothering him, and I assumed he was standing too long at work. When the pain wouldn't go away, I had a funny feeling and took him to the pediatrician. She chalked it up to growing pains, while my mama intuition felt it was more and requested an X-ray. Bryce got the X-ray, we picked up a pizza and headed home. Before we opened the pizza, the pediatrician called me and told me to take Bryce to the children's hospital.

He was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare bone cancer affecting only 250 children annually in the United States. He had a 10 centimeter tumor in his hip.

We entered a foreign world. Ewing's is an aggressive cancer which requires aggressive chemo with admissions of 1 - 6 days a week. He had surgery on October 20 to remove the tumor and we are still in the hospital.

Like a lot of people, I lived paycheck to paycheck. It has been impossible for me to work full time these past 5 months, and now that Bryce has had surgery I don't see things getting any easier. At this point he cannot even get out of bed to go to the restroom alone, and doctors say it will be 12 weeks before he can bear any weight on his left leg.

If you are able, I would greatly appreciate your help with allowing me to devote my time and energy to helping my son as opposed to stressing about how I am going to cover basic living expenses right now and for the next several months.

I would have considered myself a humble person prior to this experience, but this journey has taught me the true meaning of the word. Not once have I heard Bryce ask "why me". He just moves forward. I want to be able to be next to him. I cannot work full time and leave him alone on days he is not in the hospital having chemo. When he is in the hospital having chemo treatments, I still don't want to leave his side.

Thank you for reading our story, and thank you in advance for any help and/or prayers you can offer.
