Help Bryce, Jo, & Baby Samuel Get Home and Get Care

Hi friends, family, and kind strangers,

We’re reaching out on behalf of our dear friends Bryce and Jo, whose journey to parenthood has been filled with both joy and incredible challenges.

At just 19 weeks pregnant, Jo’s water broke—a devastating and terrifying complication that left doctors unsure if their baby would survive. Jo was put on strict monitoring, and against all odds, Samuel continued to grow. The doctors have called him nothing short of “a miracle baby to the Nth degree.”

Bryce and Jo remained in the hospital from 24 weeks until 34 weeks, when doctors decided it was safest to induce.

On July 5th, their sweet baby boy Samuel made his entrance into the world. He was tiny, fragile, and in need of extra medical support. From the moment he was born, Sammy has been in the NICU fighting to get stronger. Every day, he makes progress—his little lungs are healing, his body is growing, and his spirit is already so full of love. Bryce and Jo have been living in temporary housing in Lubbock Texas while Samuel receives NICU care.

The great news: Samuel is getting closer to finally going home!

The hard news: He will still need continued care, oxygen at home, and regular follow-up appointments with specialists.

Right now, Bryce and Jo live in rural New Mexico - 3 hours from the nearest hospital equipped to care for Sammy. They’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to move back home to Utah to be closer to family, specialized healthcare, and the support network they need.

This move comes with significant financial challenges, including:

Breaking their current lease in New Mexico

Covering long-distance moving expenses

Securing a deposit and first month’s rent in Utah

Ongoing healthcare costs for Sammy’s specialized care, equipment, and medications
