Help Bryce In The Long Road To Recovery

Donation protected
My name is Melanie Naud.

Bryce Allen Steinfath is my nephew. He’s a wonderful brother, an incredibly gifted athlete (seriously, he was being scouted for football) and truly kind soul. He’s always been such a sweet and sensitive boy who never wavers in his support of his own family. He is 17 years old and is an incredibly smart, passionate kid who’s already overcome a lot in his life. And he is going to need all of the support he can to overcome this too.

Earlier this afternoon while crossing a crosswalk, a driver apparently did not see him, hit and dragged him over 50 yds before stopping.

What we know so far is that Bryce’s right leg is pretty mangled and will need to be reconstructed. He suffered extensive mouth and facial injuries and has a brain bleed behind his right eye. All of his ribs were broken and one of his lungs was punctured. He is being flown to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Again, Bryce is 17 years old. I’ve known and loved him all of his life. When you asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up from the time he was a small child, his answer was, “I’m going to be a football player for the Bears.” And as he grew, so did his love and devotion for football. He has dedicated himself to it, attending players camps and working out and studying the game. He was being scouted by at least one college already. Recently he had also been looking into the armed forces. The Marines specifically like his Grandpa Fred. Both of those dreams, if at all possible, will take an incredible amount of work and perseverance, which Bryce has in spades. But he will need all of the support we can muster to rely on.

The driver of the vehicle was uninsured and while Bryce is covered under his father’s insurance, we all know recovery is a very long and very expensive road and that insurance can be fickle on what they want to cover. We want to make sure Bryce’s family is able to be with him without worrying. They live in Marinette and will need to travel back and forth for Bryce for the foreseeable future. We want to eliminate the financial worry they’re undoubtedly about to go through as much as possible.

Please donate what you can, when you can, and if you can’t please share and get the word out.
