Help Bryant Rebuild

Donation protected
Bryant is my youngest older brother. Unlike my other siblings, we spent most of our childhood together— even sharing a bedroom for a few unbearable years!

Bryant loves to cook, sew, and watch cartoons like Transformers and X-Men. He’s father to two of the brightest little stars, Dominick and Kaiden.

Just like many of us, Bryant has had a complicated life. I’ve talked a lot about the trauma I’ve experienced as a child abuse survivor— and no one in my family has suffered the brunt of that trauma like Bryant.

My brother has battled anger, depression, homelessness, and addiction. After a decade of this battle, Bryant almost lost his life due to overdose. That near death experience helped my brother realize he needed to turn his life around.

I was thankfully able to connect with Bryant, and he agreed to join me in Portland. Having spent a decade in the social services industry, I’ve advocated and successfully gotten him access to resources to aim him in his recovery.

Bryant is now two months sober. He’s found housing. He’s begun volunteering to feed the homeless. He’s made new friends. He’s happier than I’ve seen him in years.

While we are off to a promising start, Bryant is not in the clear just yet. And he needs our help.

Like many people living with addiction, Bryant’s life has intersected with the criminal justice system. Although his sons Dominick and Kaiden are safe with their mom, my brother is fighting for his right to maintain parental custody. This requires him to go back to Virginia, and the costs include flight, lodging, food, and transportation.

Bryant is currently unemployed, and the financial assistance he receives is being used completely for housing and food for himself and his kids. I’m raising $1,500 to help take this one burden from his chest.

Anything you can give is greatly appreciated, and will make a big difference in helping Bryant rebuild his life.

Thank you.
