Help Bryan's Family Recover from Kitchen Fire
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Bryan Balas, the firstborn in our family and the oldest of 3 younger siblings. In addition, this is my first GoFundMe, so I would like to start by saying thank you to all those that keep these programs existing, and thank you for your kindness, heart, and time in reading this. Okay, here goes. On Friday, Dec 27, 2024, I received a text message at exactly 4:34 pm from my 11-year-old sister. I could not believe what I was reading because it was just another ordinary day before the end-of-the-year holidays. Everything was okay, you know, but that message read, in summary, that she was currently on her way to the Reston, Virginia hospital because 30 minutes prior, my mom had suffered a tragic accident when her kitchen oven exploded right in front of her, causing a massive fire to engulf my mom's kitchen. The damages were bad, but the worst part was that in the middle of this pandemic, my mom slipped in her panic and suffered a fracture in her spine and soon-to-be-determined right side hip. She is not working at this time, and Reston VA hospital has sent her to a specialist to continue her monitoring and healing process. She can barely stand right now and chooses not to leave the house. I am 27 and, like everyone else, have troubles of my own. I really wish I could help support my mom right now. Being there and speaking to the landlord is important, but it's times like these that extra funds can really make an impact. I'm creating this GoFundMe in hopes of being able to ease this tragedy for my family. My younger brother is driving down from Texas to help out with moving burned items and the cleanup process. Unfortunately, my mom did not have any sort of home insurance, but the landlord does and is working with us on that. These funds will be going towards her medical bills and anything she needs during this time of her recovery. To anyone that's still here reading this, anything is appreciated and will most definitely go a long way. God bless you all, wishing you a better year ahead.
