Hello Everyone! I'm Bryan ten Bosch, I work as a firefighter for the City of Davis Fire Department. I'm super excited to kick off my World Police and Fire Games GoFundMe! Next year, the World Police and Fire Games will be taking place in Birmingham, Alabama, from June 27th to July 6th. I intend on competing and getting my third consecutive World Games Gold Medal in the Decathlon.
A few notes about my history with the Games:
Back in 2019, I was a survivor in a shooting on duty that claimed the life of City of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona. What followed was a tumultuous series of life events, where I wasn't appropriately taking care of my physical and mental health. I was at my lowest.
I learned after attending the West Coast First Responders retreat—a retreat that helps first responders cope with and manage PTSD—that I needed to have something to motivate myself. An athletic goal to work towards.
It started by learning of the United States Police and Fire Games, which takes place in San Diego each year, bringing together Fire and Police personnel from all over the United States to compete together, bond, and network. It was there that I was encouraged to compete for the United States at the World Police and Fire Games.
So I did, and it is one of the greatest choices I have ever made.
A few important things to note about this GoFundMe:
- A third of all money that is raised, successful or under the mark, will be donated to the Hearts for Paws Charity! It's a fostering/adoption agency for dogs and cats, based out of Davis, CA. It's the agency that fostered my dog Maggie, who I would ultimately adopt. It's an agency that has saved so many animals from euthanasia, and I'm looking to support a local charity that has given me so much, by giving back.
- I am an Ambassador for this World Games! I will be making regular training videos, updates, and sharing my love of the games and the athletes that are attending with everyone!
I'm so looking forward to this journey and I'm looking forward to making you all proud. Please share, and if you can't donate, please still join me for the ride! It's gonna be a fun one!
