Hey guys, I'm not one to usually ask for help, but im in a bit of a bind. About 5 weeks ago, I adopted a 10 year old Dachshund named Bruno, whom I found on pet finder. A wonderful, local rescue was facilitating the adoption but Bruno was still living with his original owner, who had owned him since he was 6 weeks old. I've taken Bruno to the vet twice now, and have since come to find out the previous owner lied about his medical history. I've had to pay for vaccines, flea treatment, bloodwork, and now an appointment with a cardiologist to do another exam and x-rays of his heart.
Bruno has a Grade 2 heart murmur, and while mild, it is still present. He needs a dental more than anything (photo of his teeth posted in this gofundme). Unfortunately, he very well may have to have teeth pulled due to negligence of his previous owner not keeping up on his health. I was quoted $500 for the dental itself, then an additional $500-$1500 for teeth extractions depending on how many he may need pulled. They cannot say if anything needs to be pulled until they have him under anesthesia for his dental so they can do x-rays of his teeth to see if there has been bone loss.
My care credit only has about $300 remaining in available credit, and I was denied for a credit line increase. I have spent $1500 alone on Bruno's vet bills since bringing him home. He has an upcoming appointment for a vaccine booster as well as getting his glands done this weekend, so at least half of the remaining credit is spoken for.
The sooner I can get him in for the dental, the better. If I wait more than 30 days, I will have to pay for additional bloodwork. We also ideally need to do the cleaning and extractions at the same appointment due to him being a senior with a heart murmur. We don't want to put him under anesthesia more than necessary.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this. Any and all help is so appreciated. I want to make sure my senior boy is as healthy and happy as possible, and unfortunately this burden falls on me since he was not in the rescues care, and his previous owner signed over all responsibility when I brought Bruno into my possession. My pets mean absolutely everything to me, and I want to be sure he has the best quality of life for how ever few years he has left. Thank you
