Hi everyone,
My name is Deborah, and I’m writing on behalf of my niece and nephew, who are facing an overwhelming and heartbreaking situation with their beloved one-year-old Border Collie, Bruno.
Just last month, Bruno underwent emergency stomach surgery after swallowing a toy. We were all hopeful he’d make a smooth recovery and return to being the energetic, loving boy we adore. Sadly, complications from that surgery have led to a new and serious issue. Bruno now needs a second emergency operation, this time on his intestines.
They are currently in Oroville, California, traveling and visiting family when this unexpected emergency struck. This trip was especially meaningful because my nephew is finally taking a much-needed vacation after serving 20 years in the Army. What was meant to be a peaceful break from years of service has instead turned into a terrifying and stressful situation.
Bruno isn’t “just a dog” to them, he is their family. He’s their child, their adventure partner, their comfort, and their daily joy. Watching him struggle has been truly devastating.
On top of the emotional stress, the financial burden has become incredibly heavy.
-The first vet visit was $585.
-Bruno’s first emergency surgery cost $3,683.
-And now, with this second emergency surgery, the current estimated bill is around $4,000 (we haven’t received the final invoice yet, but this is what we were told to expect).
With expenses piling up so quickly, they are facing costs well beyond what they can manage alone. I’m reaching out with love and hope to ask for any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page to help us reach more people.
Bruno is fighting so hard, and we are fighting right alongside him. Every dollar helps lift a little of the burden so my niece and nephew can focus on what matters most: getting their sweet boy healthy and home again.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for reading, sharing, donating, and simply caring. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
Deborah Riley
