In February 2026, the city of Matias Barbosa, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, was severely impacted by heavy rains and catastrophic flooding. Entire neighborhoods were submerged, and many families lost their homes, belongings, and basic means of living overnight. Our dear friend Bruna is one of those families. The floodwaters invaded her home, destroying furniture, appliances, clothing, important documents, and personal items accumulated over a lifetime. In just a few hours, she lost everything she had worked so hard to build. At this time, she and her family are facing the overwhelming challenge of starting from scratch.

We are raising funds to help Bruna meet her most urgent needs, including basic household items, clothing and personal essentials, temporary housing support, replacement of essential furniture and appliances, and daily necessities. As Bruna lives in Brazil and GoFundMe does not support direct withdrawals to Brazilian bank accounts, I will be organizing this fundraiser on her behalf. All funds will be withdrawn to my U.S. bank account and securely transferred to Bruna via international transfer.
