We saw that someone had found two extremely emaciated puppies wandering the freezing streets of Baltimore. We expressed interest right away because we had been talking to rescues about adopting a boxer (a breed I always wanted), but the rescues were of no help. So we volunteered to take Bruce and get him to a vet as soon as possible to make him healthy. From the start of the visit, we were told he was almost the highest level of emaciated, and had severe knee issues. We knew surgery was going to be coming, but we wanted him unconditionally and he has thrived.
Bruce put on weight at an amazing pace and, despite his back legs being in constant pain, he was a bouncy, amazing puppy. Now, almost a week removed from surgery, he refuses to not walk, and it's a struggle to get him to allow us to harness and hold his back legs up. They already look improved, but he's got a long road to go, with lots of rehab and love ahead of him.
We're hoping for some help with Bruce's surgery and recovery. Any support will go directly to his medical care, rehab, and giving him the best chance at a happy, healthy life. Thank you for considering helping Bruce on his journey!
