I’m asking for help because I’m three mortgage payments behind and facing foreclosure.

After years of addiction, I finally went to rehab. Getting sober saved my life, but it came too late to save my marriage and my relationship with my kids.

I lost my wife and children because of the choices I made while using. That pain is something I carry every day.

While I was in treatment, the bills didn’t stop. I fell behind on 3 mortgage payments and now the bank is moving toward foreclosure. Losing this house would take away the last piece of stability I have while I’m trying to rebuild my life in recovery.

I’m in a hard, daily recovery process. I’m doing the work — meetings, counseling, staying sober one day at a time — but the financial pressure is crushing. Catching up on these three mortgage payments would keep a roof over my head and give me the chance to keep rebuilding without the constant fear of losing everything again.

Where the money will go:

• Three past-due mortgage payments

• Late fees and any related foreclosure-related costs

• Any remaining amount will go toward the next month’s payment so I can stay current while I continue working and recovering

I take full responsibility for the addiction that brought me here. I’m not asking anyone to fix my past — only for help so I don’t lose my home while I’m fighting to stay sober and become the person my kids might one day be able to know again.
