Hi Everybody,
Bruce Cole, a longtime resident of Eugene, Oregon and a popular and respected drummer, has a medical crisis and urgently needs our help NOW! Bruce nearly lost his life in a motorcycle accident in 1996. After difficult years of rehabilitation and physical therapy, he regained enough mobility to function, live independently, and support himself playing music and teaching.
But Bruce's health has been deteriorating rapidly due to complications from the motorcycle accident injuries, and he is reaching his limit of endurance, both physically and emotionally. He is nearly incapacitated due to numbness in his legs, chronic pain, and inability to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time. He is unable to work, hardly able to walk, and barely hanging on financially.
Bruce needs spinal surgery as a starting point, but cannot afford the out-of-pocket medical expenses ($4500 per year) not covered by his health insurance. He also needs financial help with living expenses now and while recovering from surgery. To move forward, Bruce needs to raise at least $6,500. Because of his rapidly worsening condition, this really needs to happen ASAP.
Bruce has always been generous with his time, and is more accustomed to helping and giving to others than to receiving help. He has contributed to the local (Eugene) music scene for many years, performing frequently at The Jazz Station and other venues; he has also worked as a paramedic, an animal rescue volunteer, and has helped friends in need. Now Bruce needs our help.
Please contribute to this Go Fund Me fundraiser: this is a chance to "pay it forward" and help Bruce get his life back!
To those who have already contributed, or will do so, Bruce wants you to know that he is deeply grateful for your help.
(Note: Go Fund Me is free but has to charge a 2.9% transaction fee plus $0.30 per donation for credit card processing and safe transfer of funds. The rest of your donation is deposited directly into the recipient's checking account.)
