Hi, my name is Mary and I am trying to get help for my grandson who needs important surgery. He has been diagnosed with Osteoblastoma. His right leg has a tumor and it has fractured his bone. It has also destroyed his cartilage. He has been unable to work or attend college which he very much wants to do. The pain is excruciating. He has had difficulty obtaining and keeping insurance. The Oncologist at Shand's very much wants to do his surgery so he can get his life back. Walking is very painful and difficult. He has been battling this injury to his leg for 2 years. The doctors first treated it as a facture.

Bruce's life has been challenging being born very premature and starting off life rough. Then at 8 years old he developed HSP (Henoch-Schonlein Purpura) which causes bleeding in the small blood vessels. It affects the skin, joints, intestines and kidneys. There is no cure just treatment with steroids'. Bruce continued to grow and excel in school and sports and graduated high school while working part time. After graduation he began to have problems with his joints. His knee was dislocated while playing basketball. He has been to numerous doctors dictated by his on and off insurance. His mom is a single parent raising three boys. I am asking for funds to allow him to keep his insurance and pay for co-payments, medications and he will be on no weight bearing for two months. We are blessed to have such a great young man with his aspirations of becoming a doctor. We must first get past this surgery and on the way to healing.
