Help Bruce and Jeanette in Their Time of Need
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
My name is Helen. I am Bruce's sister, Jeanette's sister in law.
As most of you know, Jeanette was diagnosed back in 2021 with Alzheimer's Dementia. Jeanette is 73 years old. Bruce and Jeanette have been married for 52 years and have 2 sons, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons. Bruce is a 1968 graduate of North Catholic High School. He is also a retired army veteran of 20 years. While in the army, he served 2 tours in Vietnam.
Doing this GoFundMe was not an easy decision for Bruce to make, it took some time on his part to agree. But they need your help!
You see, Bruce has been the sole caregiver for Jeanette since she was diagnosed back in 2021. He has done an amazing job on his own up until now. Jeanette is in a bed 24/7. She has a catheter and no control over her bowels. She is on hospice and they provide an aide to come out twice a week to bathe her and change sheets. Bruce was reaching out to them at night after Jeanette had a bowel movement so he could have help cleaning and moving her. Hospice told him last week it is not their job to come help him after she has a bowel movement. They gave him a list of private duty aides that will come help him. That is an out of pocket cost every time he calls, which is $15-$50 an hour.
Bruce has started the paperwork necessary for Jeanette to receive Medicaid and was informed that there is a backlog of 200+ days.
Bruce has been looking at Memory Care facilities and has found that they cost about $5000 a month. Because of the backlog for Medicaid, this would have to be out of pocket and it is not something that Bruce can afford to pay.
So I am asking if you can please donate to this. If you can't donate please share so we can reach as many friends and family as possible. It would be greatly appreciated no matter how much. Anything that is received here will be used to pay for a memory care facility for Jeanette.
