At just 9 months old, our husky Brownie was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a golf ball. My wife and I were told he might have only 2-3 months to live.
My name is Josh, and I’m asking for help to save my best friend Brownie.
We watched Brownie grow up from the very beginning. Our cousin in Oruro, Bolivia sent us videos of him from week 1 until we arrived to take him home. My wife and I fell in love with him before he even came home. He was the only red husky and the only male out of the 6 other females. When he finally joined our family, we went through so much to bring him here. Covering his travel to the United States. The many CDC requirements, blood work, vaccines and everything needed to get him safely home. He was always worth it.
From the moment he arrived, Brownie brought endless joy, energy, and love into our lives. He is such a sensitive and calm Husky. He is like a unicorn in many ways.
Brownie lives for the outdoors. Long walks, exploring everything around him, stopping and listening to his surroundings and especially chasing squirrels. That’s who he is: playful, curious, and full of life.
Then one day, everything changed. Brownie suddenly lost strength on his entire left side. We rushed him to the emergency vet. After 5 hours they said it was THC or something he ate. The next morning we took him to another care facility who referred us to a brain specialist. After seeing a neurologist and getting an MRI, we received the devastating news—he had a large brain tumor. The surgeon gave him 2-3 months to live. Hearing that was heartbreaking.
But Brownie is still here. Now at 1 year and 3 months old, he continues to fight every single day. He is on steroids x2 a day since and had an initial round of antibiotics. He also had all of his lymph nods ultrasound for tumors. All clear. His whole belly is still shaved and hasn't grown back at all. I think its great for his heat dispersal haha
Some days, when the pressure in his head increases, he moves slowly and struggles just to be himself. Watching him go through this is incredibly hard. He rarely speaks, as Huskies generally do. I think its due to the pressure in his head. But maybe his just very stubborn.
We have committed to giving Brownie the best care possible. We feed him an organic diet, give him wonderful treats all the time. CBD with every dinner, and provide daily probiotics to support his health. Along with that, we have covered the costs of specialist visits, MRI's, ultrasounds, testing, and medications—but the expenses have quickly become overwhelming.
We are not ready to give up on him. Nor will we. He deserves more time, more adventures, and more time to run outside and chase the squirrels he loves so much.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it would mean everything to us. And if you can’t, sharing this page could help save his life.
Thank you for reading Brownie’s story and for supporting him in this fight. If you've gotten this far, The purpose of this is to fund ultimately brain surgery to remove his tumor, test his lymph nodes and further medical treatment. I am also more than happy to share his MRI images if requested. Have a safe and fun day
