For years, Brother’s Burgers has proudly served our community—making fresh burgers, breakfast burritos, and doing our best to create a place where people can grab a good meal and always feel welcome. Like many small, family-run businesses, the past few years have not been easy. Between inflation, rising food costs, increasing minimum wage, rent, utilities, and the general strain on the economy, simply keeping our doors open has become more challenging than we ever imagined. Still, we’ve continued pushing forward because this business means everything to our family and the late Efren’s legacy.
Recently, we were hit with a situation completely outside of our control. Due to long-standing issues in the building caused by landlord negligence, we have been forced to close our restaurant for extensive repairs as part of a landlord-mandated closure. When this first happened, we were told the repairs would be complete after 7-10 business days. We are now on the 9th business day (11 days if you count the weekend) and after visiting the site today and speaking with the workers completing the repairs, we were told the project will take a minimum of two additional weeks while three weeks is more likely. That puts at the end of the month — nearly an entire month without income. To make matters more difficult, our landlord and their team have been largely unresponsive to our emails. Because of this, we have not been able to obtain the documentation needed to file an insurance claim or even receive clear information about when we will be able to reopen. Despite the forced closure, we are still expected to pay our full lease. Meanwhile, the bills continue piling up: rent, vendors, utilities, and all the other expenses required to run a small business. Just as importantly, Brother’s Burgers is the sole source of income for two families, who have now gone over a week without any income at all — with no clear end in sight.
Funds raised will help us cover rent, pay our staff, vendors, and utilities during this closure. Asking for help was never something we imagined doing. We know so many people are also feeling the weight of today’s economy, and turning to our community was truly our last option. But this situation has put us in a position where we simply cannot do it alone. It is with very humble hearts that we are asking our community for help to get through this unexpected closure. This is the type of situation that can easily pull a small, family-run restaurant under. Every dollar helps us cover the basic expenses needed to survive until we can reopen our doors. And if donating isn’t possible, we completely understand—simply coming in for a burger or a breakfast burrito once we reopen would mean the world to us. We are incredibly grateful for the support this community has shown us over the years, and we hope to continue serving you for many years to come. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
