Hi everyone,
Meet Brooks Guanbeh. He is the son of some very good friends in Liberia, and a very strong student. Many of you have heard me talk before about the challenges for students in Liberia (maybe you've heard me talk about it too much?). Between a lack of qualified instructors and the lingering effects of a brutal civil war, the prospects for students in Liberia are not good.
Some of us have been helping to support Brooks, and other students, in their studies at Nimba Community College the last few years - the annual tuition is usually a few hundred Canadian Dollars.
Brooks has now been accepted to study at the University of Lay Adventists in Kigali, Rwanda. While the tuition fees are still small, compared to studying in Canada, I cannot afford these fees on my own and I would like to solicit some help from you to cover his expenses for his studies.
The whole year, including a flight to Kigali, tuition, housing, ... should come to around $2600 USD ($3400 Canadian.)
The expenses are roughly as follows:
- Yearly tuition: $300/semester
- Registration fees: $150/semester
- Housing: Dormitory fees: $280/year or Apartment rental: $100-150/month
- Hotel on arrival: $40
- Travel Visa: $30 upon arrival
- Covid Test: $60 upon arrival
- Flight: $650
I want to be able to help him to study towards his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies. Please help me with this. If we can start this off quickly enough, we can get him to Rwanda in time for classes in January and cover off any other fees as the year goes on.
Thank you for your help,
Courtney
