Help Brooklynn Make it to N.Y.U.

Hello, my name is Brooklynn Davis, and I'm a senior graduating from an Academy of Performing Arts in Las Vegas, currently holding a 4.1 GPA. Since I was a young kid, I've been involved in the arts, with a strong background in dance and entertainment in Los Angeles, CA. I love all aspects of it, as it fills my heart and spirit and brings joy to those around me.

I have been honing my skills with the hope of pursuing a career as a professional dancer. However, my perspective shifted when I had the chance to take a psychology class as an elective. This experience allowed me to delve deeply into the inner workings of the human mind, and gain a greater understanding of the motivations, thoughts, and emotions that drive our behavior. As a result of this newfound interest, I have decided to pursue a major in psychology with a focus on forensics and criminology. I am particularly fascinated by the minds of criminals, and I am eager to explore the mysteries behind their actions and help solve the puzzles that surround criminal behavior.

My mother is a single mother of three kids, with me being the oldest. She has been my strongest support system, even through the struggles she's faced over the years. From enrolling me in dance programs to finding the best schools to nurture my skills, my mother has always made sure that I've had the best opportunities, which has not always been easy. With me now entering college, the financing aspect of it has proven to be a burdensome one, with dues and deadlines thrown at us from every direction. Although I should be celebrating my achievements of college acceptances from almost every school I've applied to, I've become extremely anxious and concerned about meeting my financial obligations to continue my passion for higher education and the college experience.

I've been accepted into my dream school, N.Y.U. (New York University), which is a feat in itself as an extremely small percentage is accepted, and I'm included in that small percentage!

I'm completely in awe of my accomplishments, but unfortunately, an acceptance does not guarantee a spot at the college of my choice. I have applied for financial aid and continue to apply for scholarships like it's my part-time job, and I am still awaiting award notifications. However, NYU has only granted me federal aid with an outstanding balance of $72,000, which includes remaining tuition and housing fees. I'm not a candidate for student loans to cover the remaining balance and need help to get to the school of my dreams! I will be the first in my family to proudly and confidently say that I've graduated from N.Y.U. with your help!
