Hi everyone,
I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my amazing friend, Brooklynn, who was recently in a serious car accident just outside of Storm Lake, Iowa.
While driving, Brooklynn swerved to avoid hitting a deer—an instinctual reaction any of us might have. Unfortunately, the car was pulled into the shoulder, hit a field entrance, and became briefly airborne. When it came down, Brooklynn suffered a fractured T12 vertebra in her spine.
Thankfully, a truck driver stopped to help. He stayed with Brooklynn and helped her contact emergency services until paramedics arrived. We’re so grateful he was there.
Brooklynn was first taken by ambulance to Storm Lake Hospital, where doctors discovered that the fracture was pressing into her spinal cord. She was then lifelighted to UNMC in Omaha Nebraska for emergency care.
The good news is Brooklynn’s surgery went well!
She is currently recovering in the hospital and will be staying there for about a week, followed by 6–8 weeks of recovery at home and physical therapy.
Why We're Asking for Help
Brooklynn is facing:
- Emergency airlift and spinal surgery costs not covered by insurance
- A week-long hospital stay
- Time off work with no income
- Ongoing physical therapy and recovery expenses
- Possibly getting a new car at some point in the future as her job requires a lot of driving.
She’s staying strong and positive through it all, but the unexpected medical bills and loss of income are understandably overwhelming. We're raising funds to help ease the financial burden so she can focus on healing without added stress.
If you’re able to donate, every dollar makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, or on social media would mean so much. If you would rather donate directly to her another way please reach out to me (Tricia) and I will give you those details.
Let’s rally around Brooklynn and show her how loved and supported she is. Thank you all for your kindness, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time.
