Help Brooklyn pay for Godot's medical care
Donation protected
Godot has been a client of Fuzzy Buddy’s since 2015, he is one of our regular daycare attendees and is one of the highlights of the playroom! He can befriend almost any dog and always lights up the playroom with his smile. He attended every day while his owner, Ruth was at work and continued attending daily after she retired to hang out with his friends. Tragically, Ruth passed away suddenly late last year, and Fuzzy Buddy's took Godot in as an emergency foster initially and then Brooklyn later adopted him and he has been living with them ever since. Many of you know Brooklyn as the playroom manager, they have worked here since 2010 and have over 38,000 hours of time spent in the playroom watching dog’s play and interact in the playroom! Brooklyn is an invaluable resource to all of us (Staff and clients alike!) for information on behavior, training, and advice on anything dog related.
Earlier in the week, Brooklyn was out with Godot at a park when she noticed that he was acting odd. He was dry heaving, low energy and had a tight and bloated stomach. Within 5 minutes of his initial attempt to vomit he worsened. All employees of Fuzzy Buddy’s have been trained to recognize what these symptoms can mean, and Brooklyn acted quickly and rushed him to the vet where it was discovered that he had bloat, and Godot was sent straight into emergency surgery. There was no discernible cause for bloat to happen as he was not drinking excessive amounts of water, had shade, and was not overexerting himself. The vet said that unfortunately you can do everything right and sometimes this can just happen (which is a terrifying thought!). While in surgery they found a hard object lodged in his stomach that had been there for some time and could have increased his chances for bloat as well as other health issues. Bloat is extremely serious and without quick medical attention the dog will die. If Brooklyn had not acted as quickly as they did, Godot would likely no longer be with us.
The surgery went well, and Godot is recovering, but now Brooklyn finds themself in a tricky situation. The medical bills for an emergency surgery and stay such as this one are astronomically high, which leads us to where we are now. I’m the office manager at Fuzzy Buddy’s, and I’ve been employed here since 2011, I can speak for the entire staff when I say that none of us would be as knowledgeable as we are without Brooklyn’s years of expertise leading the helm in the playroom. They create a fun, playful and safe environment for the dogs every day and they always do it with a smile on their face. I know they would never ask for this help so I’m starting this go fund me to help Brooklyn pay for some of this debt they suddenly find themselves in. If you can’t donate, please share. Let’s help repay Brooklyn for all they do for all of us!
