Help Brooklyn Fight Her Ossifying Fibroma Tumour!

Donation protected
Meet our Brooklyn, she is four years old and has recently been diagnosed with Ossifying Fibroma, a rare non-cancerous tumour that is embedded into her jaw. Ossifying Fibroma is a rare and typically a slow to develop bone disease, but in Brooklyn's case it is developing quite quickly and is requiring removal and reconstructive surgery within the next few weeks.

A bit of Brooklyn's story....
Right before the new year Brooklyn's mom, Samantha, took her to a dentist because she was saying she had pain in her gums and teeth and had what looked like a tooth coming through the bottom of her gums. The dentist immediately noticed that the left lower side of her face was extremely swollen. Once  X-rays we completed and reviewed, he found the abnormal growth in her jaw and immediately sent a referral to an oral surgeon in Edmonton. After the initial referral, Brooklyn's CT scan reflected that there was definitely something wrong and she was immediately referred to Children’s Stollery Hospital and admitted for a biopsy the following day.

January 31st 2022,  Brooklyn returns back to Edmonton, receives her biopsy results from the surgeon and is diagnosed with Ossifying Fibroma. While not cancerous, the tumour is aggressive and the damage is already to much for her little lower left jaw. Brooklyn is scheduled to have major surgery, which involves removing the entire bottom of her jaw and replacing it with a bone graft from her leg. This intense and risky 18 hour surgery will be a lot for our little girl, and long term care and rehabilitation will be forefront on our minds. This surgery will include an ICU for 10 days after and then spend another 5-7 days in the hospital. Follow up appointments and dental surgery to replace all her bottom teeth will be a necessary step in her healing journey. Our main goal is to keep our little Brookie as happy, comfortable and thriving as possible during this difficult and painful journey!

Brooklyn's family lives in Grande Prairie and majority of her care will be in Edmonton. Travel, meals, hotels and dental costs are becoming an extra stress on this little family and we are trying to alleviate as much pressure on them as we can, so they can focus solely on Brooklyn and her recovery. Brooklyn’s dad, Skylar, continues to work as much as he can and would like to be at as many appointments possible, a tough decision to make for a one income family. We are starting this GoFundMe to help our sister and her husband with some of these additional costs, so they can focus on their little girl and fully support her during this uncertain and difficult time.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would help out so much with all of the unexpected and additional expenses. Please keep Brookie in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you on behalf of all of her family ❤️
