Fighting For Brooklyn !
Hello , my name is Rebecca Bernard and my daughter name is Brooklyn Jones we’re from Jackson Ms . My sweet girl is a chronically ill child since birth . She was born on October 25,2017. She stayed in the nicu for a very long time after birth . From there she was diagnosed with a rare disease called “Biliary Atresia “. She was immediately placed on the transplant list to receive a new liver . We stayed in and out the hospital the whole process of trying to find her a new liver because she was slowly dying . We needed to find her one immediately. Great news ! We found one on February 21,2019 , at Texas children’s hospital, from a very lovely boy and his family . And we’re so grateful and happy . Shortly after the surgery Brooklyn was doing great . Until I notice a change in her . She was very aggravated all the time and upset. I Took her to the doctor and he said she has rejection of the liver . That was the worse news me and my family wanted to hear . That Brooklyn new liver was failing . The doctors treated her immediately. However she developed a portal vein and Vericoses along the liver . And that’s why her liver was failing . Being that Brooklyn is so mentally and physically delayed she only weighs 19 pounds as a 3 year old . She doesn’t talk and she just started to take steps towards walking . Her veins are so tiny that they are not able to operate on her at the moment until she grows or until those veins get bigger . So the doctors are coming up with a solution to try and help her until they can fix the portal vein . Complications are that she will have to go back on the liver transplant list or worst the portal vein could bleed out and cause death . Things got rough for us again . We were in and out the hospital again . I lost my job due to taking off work so much . I’ve exhausted all my FMLA at work . But that’s ok because we want the help we can get for Brooklyn. We are here currently at the “Texas children’s hospital “ helping Brooklyn fight . We are not going to give up on her ! We are a firm believer in God and we know he’s here helping us fight . The doctors are working very hard to find a resolution. A small donation would be very helpful to help me and my family towards bills , Medical equipment, and transportation back and forth from Mississippi to Houston Tx.
Thank you all and God bless!
