On the night of Thursday, February 18, 2021, Brooke and her lifelong friend/love of her life, John, were traveling home on a Scottsdale freeway when John lost consciousness and the car he was driving crashed through a telephone pole and then into a tree. The car burst into flame as Brooke was thrown from the passenger seat and sustained multiple horrific injuries, including broken bones, broken ribs, a concussion, and many third degree burns on her body. By a miracle, being thrown from the car is probably what saved her life. Unfortunately, John did not survive the accident and Brooke, family, and friends are heartbroken by the tragic loss of this remarkable man. He brought her and those around him so much happiness and he will be truly missed.
Brooke is currently in the Valleywise Burn Unit in Phoenix, AZ undergoing multiple surgeries per week to treat her extensive burns and injuries with an undetermined end-date on the books. She continues to have good days and bad days but the recovery is going to be long and hard, both physically and emotionally. Her strength and bravery through out this horrific and painful ordeal is awe inspiring and the support system rallying behind her is phenomenal. Her two fur babies are currently being cared for by family and waiting for their momma to get better and come home.
Due to her lengthy hospitalization and future medical needs, financial assistance is needed and much appreciated. Brooke is a diamond in the lives of those that know her. Her generosity, love of people and animals, and loyalty make her sparkle and shine. No doubt she would do anything for the ones she loves and we will do the same for her. Continue to pray for our girl, the world is a better place with her in it.
