Help Brooke Recover from a Car Accident

On Tuesday, August 20th I was blindsided by a passenger van going over 30mph, turning the wrong way down a one-way road across oncoming traffic. They t-boned my car, and sent me across the road into another vehicle. The airbags deployed, but all of the doors were jammed shut and I was unable to get out of the vehicle. Unbelievably, the people in the car that hit me got out and immediately began throwing things at my car, screaming at me and reaching inside of my windows. I was shocked and still am experiencing anxiety when driving or riding passenger now. To say this accident was traumatizing for me is an understatement.

Luckily, I made it out of the car with the help of some extremely kind people that witnesses the crash, and though pretty banged up, I sustained no major lacerations or broken bones.

Unfortunately, my car is completely totaled, in which I worked so hard to get just last year. This accident happened in the first two weeks of moving myself to a new city that I chose for a better quality of life and to go back to school. I’ve also been on the job hunt, so this could not have happened at worse time for me. I am currently without proper medical insurance, and have had numerous hospital visits for X-rays and MRI’s as well as upcoming physical therapy to recover from the damage caused to me by this accident. I’m also handling litigation towards the other people involved in the crash. Their car insurance is a sketchy company, and I’ve been advised that seeing any money from this will either take a year, or may never happen at all.

My insurance didn’t cover all the damage or the balance of what I had left on the loan. It was heartbreaking to experience how this system operates.

This has made my financial situation very strained. I’ve thought about asking for help a lot over the past week as the situation has unfolded, the only way I will be able to move forward, afford my living expenses, and afford a down payment towards another car is to ask for help here on GoFundMe. I’ve never done this before, and would never make a GoFundMe if it wasn’t the only viable option that I have left. Any help at all here would be SO helpful.
