Help Brooke on Her Road to Recovery

This fundraiser is for my daughter, Brooke Strange.

In April 2012 Brooke had a Grand Maul Seizure and was transported to the hospital where it was discovered that she had a golf ball sized brain tumor on her right front temporal lobe. She was transported to CHOP in Philadelphia where the head of Neurosurgery performed a Craniotomy.

Flash forward to October 2024, Brooke was having severe migraines where it was starting to affect her vision and balance. We went to her PCP the middle of October where the doctor ordered an MRI with and without contrast. The MRI was performed and we received the results on November 16th, which showed that Brooke had a brain tumor that was 78mm (roughly 1/4 of her brain).

Brooke decided that she wanted to go to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia to meet with a surgeon.

We received a phone call from the office asking us how quickly we could arrive in Center City Philadelphia so we immediately got everything together and made the three hour drive down to meet with her surgeon.

During the appointment he thoroughly went through Brooke’s scans with us and said it is imperative we schedule her second Craniotomy for the following day.

Brooke was direct admitted to Jefferson Hospital on the 19th and had her Craniotomy on the 20th, which took five and a half hours and also received a blood transfusion.

The doctor stated that due to the positioning of her tumor, he could only remove 90% of it as it was so deep and very close to her Basal Ganglia and he feared she was at high risk of paralysis of her left side.

The Pathology results will take 10-14 days to determine if there is any cancer involved.

Brooke is remaining positive and hopeful during her extremely long road ahead.

Due to Brooke’s condition, she is unable to work and will be off for an extended period of time.
