Help Brooke & her pigeon to stay housed in Philadelphia
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Brooke and I’m an artist and seamstress from Philadelphia. I moved here in 2021 and have been struggling to stay housed.
I was born three months premature and lost my twin at birth. This alone has caused a well-documented and complicated medical history that I hadn’t started to come to terms with until this year.
I did all the things you’re supposed to: I graduated high school, went to college, got my Bachelor’s of Psychology, and worked in the psychiatric field for a short time before getting sick.
I’ve been self-employed, largely since I was 18 by selling clothing and making individual pieces. As I get older, the amount of days I’m sick are more frequent and it’s been very hard to keep up.
Several weeks ago I was diagnosed with the beginning stages of glaucoma in my left eye, and I think that was my wake up call. Brooke… you need to apply for disability. And you need help.
I applied for disability and that is in the works. Now, I am asking for help to pay off my rent balance so I can stay off of the street.
I have a pigeon named Alfred Hitchcock that I adopted about a year and a half ago. If you do donate or share, just please know you’re helping to keep us housed and we are so grateful.
Should you also feel so inclined, please follow my Instagram page, @discowitch__ to see my work and learn more about me.
Thank you for your time,
XOXO
