Help Brooke Heal After Surgery
Donation protected
Hey all, as many of you may know, my longtime partner and best friend, Brooke Lackey, recently underwent major surgery. Brooke has been suffering from neck and back pain for over ten years, and has opted for a medically necessary breast reduction as a means to treat her pain, and hopefully improve her life, both physically and mentally. On the path to her surgery, Brooke has been diagnosed with cervical degenerative arthritis, cervical segmental dysfunction, scapular dyskinesia, and ulnar neuropathy/entrapment . All of this has left her dealing with near-constant and ever-increasing pain in her neck, shoulders, mid and lower back, and hips. She also experiences frequent numbness and weakness in her arms and hands, multiple headaches per week, frequent ringing in her ears, and jaw pain. Needless to say, this has caused problems in her day-to-day life, and makes work (and even the simplest of tasks) difficult and painful.
Despite numerous doctor and specialist appointments, Brooke has not yet met the out-of-pocket max for her insurance for the year and is on the hook for a medical balance of about $3,000, which has eaten up much of her savings. The real kicker is that she will not be able to bartend again for about 6 weeks, and as many of our fellow service industry friends already know, she is left with zero income as PTO and sick leave simply do not exist within the trenches of the war on thirst; a harsh reality for every bartender.
Thankfully, not all is lost! Brooke is at home and on the long road to recovery! But she could still use your help, and any amount would be helpful! Please don’t feel pressured to donating if it isn’t within your means!
This has been a long, painful process, made even more harrowing by the monetary stress inherent in our nations broken healthcare system. I’m so happy to have Brooke back at home and on the mend. Thank you for reading this and we hope to see you all soon!
