Help Brooke Fight Her Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Brooke Montgomery, my daughter, has been battling germ cell tumor ovarian cancer since October of last year. She had two surgeries to remove the 18cm tumor, and the second one was to remove her right ovary and put in a chemo port. She had chemo for four months. The last week of March, they stopped chemo for three weeks and thought that when they did the scan, it had taken care of all. Instead, we got some really heart-wrenching news: we were told Brooke's tumor had grown back and that she had more spots under her liver!

So we were referred to another cancer doctor who usually treats this type of cancer in adults, not younger children or teens. When we went to her clinic a week ago, we were told that it was life-threatening, that there was a 50/50 chance that she may or may not make it out of this. On Friday, Brooke had to be at the hospital at 6 am for her third surgery. This time, all her left ovary, uterus, her tubes, and her appendix would have to be removed, and she will not ever be able to have her own children. The surgery lasted for four hours. She was sent to ICU after surgery to make sure she didn't bleed out overnight. An hour later, after being put in ICU, they did an X-ray which revealed she had air on the outside of her right lung pushing against her heart. So the doctors had to put a chest tube in quickly to release the air from the outside of her lungs. She had to keep it in all night Friday and Saturday before they removed it and have been X-raying and keeping a check on her lungs after they removed the tube. Her lung still isn't fully healed. She has to use an air thing from PT to make her lungs move in and out so her lung can expand back into its normal space. In the meantime, they have her on oxygen and are doing X-rays about two times a day. Her oxygen kept dropping, so she has been on oxygen for five days now. They are trying to slowly turn it down to wean her off the oxygen. She is just now being told she can eat regular foods but to be careful. They may release her by Wednesday if she is still doing better.

We will be home for about 2-4 weeks and then we will be right back at it with her chemo. We appreciate any and all prayers and donations to help with food, gas, bills, day-to-day activities to keep kind of sane while in the hospital because she gets depressed and starts crying and just wants to go home. As her mom, I just wish I could take it all from my baby girl! Even if you guys can only donate $1 or $5, every little bit will help us with bills, needs, food, and gas for Brooke. Please keep her and our family in your prayers! Thank you guys for all the support!
