*Update 12/3/25
It has now been 4½ weeks since Brooke was rushed to the ER with what began as a simple infection and quickly became a life-threatening medical emergency. These weeks have included sepsis, multiple complications, and numerous major surgeries — but Brooke continues to fight with incredible strength.
She did require amputations, but her surgical team is now seeing healthier, stabilizing tissue, which is a huge blessing. She still has more surgeries ahead, including continued wound care and reconstruction. Her kidneys have also begun responding, and her team remains cautiously hopeful.
Brooke has been receiving specialized care at St. Elizabeth’s Burn Unit in Lincoln, where the staff has been nothing short of extraordinary. She is exactly where she needs to be for this next phase of her recovery.
Nick is doing everything he can to be with Brooke while also caring for Thea and Norah. Family has been helping with the girls, trying to keep life as steady as possible during a time that feels anything but normal.
We miss Brooke’s presence deeply, but we are holding onto every small step forward. Her strength — and the outpouring of love from all of you — is carrying us.
Your donations, prayers, and shares continue to make a tremendous difference. They help support:
• ICU and surgical expenses
• Ongoing wound care and rehabilitation
• Travel, lodging, and daily living needs
• Care and stability for the girls
Thank you for standing with Brooke, Nick, and their precious daughters. We are endlessly grateful, and we will continue to share updates as she heals.
*Update 11/27/25*
Brooke has been transferred to St. Elizabeth’s In Lincoln as of a few days ago. She has recently descibed her pain as an 8.5/10. She has endured so much and is still fighting. Please consider donating. Her family continues to need love and support In any way we can. ❤️
*Update 11/14/25*
A few of us who work with Brooke were able to visit her at the hospital. She was awake and able to whisper one or two word responses to interact with us! This is truly amazing, especially considering where things were last week! Brooke has a long road ahead of her, but she is such a warrior and your support- in whatever way possible- means so much! Brooke is still in the ICU. Please keep sending your love, prayers, and positive energy her way!
Dear friends, family, and community,
We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support for Brooke, Nick, and their girls, Thea and Norah, as they face an unexpected and frightening health crisis.
Recently, Brooke was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU due to a sudden medical emergency. This has been an incredibly difficult time for their family as Brooke continues to receive critical care and fights for her life. She had what started as a simple infection that rapidly progressed to life-threatening tissue death, sepsis and overactive clotting disorder. She is currently on life support and has had multiple surgeries this week.
With Brooke unable to work and Nick doing everything he can to be by her side and care for their daughters (who turn 2 and 5 years old this weekend!), the family is facing significant financial strain. Living expenses, medical bills, and the costs of recovery are adding up quickly.
We’re asking for your help — whether through a donation, sharing this message, or offering prayers and encouragement — to help ease their burden and allow them to focus on what matters most: Brooke’s healing and their family’s wellbeing.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping cover:
-Ongoing medical and hospital expenses
-Household and living costs while Brooke recovers
-Support for their two young girls during this difficult time
Brooke and Nick are the kind of people who show up for others — kind, selfless, and full of love. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.
Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and for any support you can give. Your kindness means more than words can express.
