Help Brooke Access Critical Medical Care
Donation protected
Cutting to the point - in her late teens and early 20s, Brooke became sick. Really sick. Those who knew her knew that something was really wrong when this strong, outgoing, beautiful soul left a job at ShopKo that she loved and rarely left the house.
After many years of fighting and advocating for herself, it was found that she was a type I diabetic. Sad but true, this was just the beginning of a long list of debilitating medical problems, with a diagnosis of gastroparesis being the one that doctors just can't seem to find a regimen to provide relief.
After receiving a cat bite on the top of her foot, she spent 9 months bed-bound fighting the infection and the gastroparesis. The infection couldn't be contained and spread to her bone, leading to a below-the-knee amputation. On the bright side, she is doing so much better with the limb gone, yet still remains in agony with her gastro issues.
Brooke has been referred to the Mayo Clinic, but has been unable to go due to limited resources. Any help that you could provide to Brooke and her husband Darnell is just a step closer to her receiving the medical care she needs!
Along with helping them obtain housing that is handicap accessible. Currently, they are in a basement apartment and this provides significant obstacles to both Brooke and Darnell.
Helping Brooke with her medical care would not only be appreciated by Brooke and Darnell but by their 2 daughters, Kian and Brielle. They miss their mother.
