I created this GoFundMe for my sister Bronwyn, a devoted single mother, your beloved local Barber, and one of the strongest, kindest and most resilient people I know.
Due to the deeply sensitive nature of her condition, we have decided not to disclose the intimate details of it.
For 23 years, Bronwyn has been quietly living with a devastating medical condition that began with what was supposed to be a routine surgery when she was just 18 years old. That one surgery, meant to improve her life, instead changed her entire future. What followed were complications that lead to chronic pain, recurring infections, inflammation, misdiagnosis, and endless medical interventions. Over the course of two decades, she was passed from doctor to specialist, each offering a different explanation and solution, but none of which truly helped. Additionally, countless medications and repeated antibiotics weakened her body, leaving her vulnerable to further complications.
Through it all, Bronwyn continued to work and show up for her life and others. She rarely spoke of her pain, carrying it silently with grace and dignity. To date, she has undergone four major surgeries, both here and in the U.S., each time hoping for relief and each time facing grave disappointment. Every failed surgery took something from her: her physical strength, her dignity, her trust in her own body and her hope of ever living free from this life-altering condition. After years of repeated trauma and surgical interventions, all conventional treatments have now been exhausted and are no longer safe or viable for her. Any additional surgery now carries extremely high risks of additional complications with very low chances of success.
Following pregnancy, her symptoms worsened prompting further research into finding a solution when something extraordinary happened. Through a global online support network, she learned that a very specialized procedure is available here in Canada, at a private clinic in Mississauga, Ontario. This clinic offers a regenerative, highly specialized treatment with a documented 98% success rate for complex cases like Bronwyn's. The doctor has already reviewed her case and believes she can help her heal! For the first time in more than two decades, Bronwyn has real hope. She has spoken with dozens of patients treated at this clinic. People who, like her, faced multiple failed surgeries, chronic pain, and hopelessness for years who are now fully healed and living normal, healthy lives thanks to this doctor.
However, healing comes with a significant financial burden. My sister and her son will need to relocate for at least three months to undergo this complex procedure and a slow, carefully monitored recovery. She will require daily, personal medical care, which is why she must remain near the clinic for the full duration of her recovery. The total estimated cost is over $40,000, covering medical expenses, airfare, accommodation, food, childcare, local transportation, and the basic necessities for both of them during their stay in Ontario. After decades of medical bills, lost work and repeated surgeries, Bronwyn no longer has the savings to put towards these expenses.
She is not asking for luxury. She is simply asking for a chance at a normal life again. A chance to wake up and be fully present for her life and son without the constant worry that comes with this condition.
Bronwyn is scheduled to start her treatment in early June 2026. If she reaches her financial goal by then it will allow her to move forward with the treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, brings her closer to reclaiming her life. If you can't donate, simply sharing her story can make an enormous difference.
From the deepest place in our hearts, we thank you!
