My name is Bronwyn, and I’m reaching out during one of the most challenging times of my life. In February 2023, my husband Brent passed away from cancer after a short, six-month battle. Losing him so quickly was devastating, and our family has struggled to adjust ever since. We depended on both our incomes to make ends meet, and since his passing, I’ve faced ongoing financial hardship. Within a month of Brent’s passing, I took in my sister and her two young children as they fled a domestic abuse situation. I did my best to support them, but after her husband returned to the country, she chose to go back to him with her kids. This decision ended my relationship with her and the children, adding another layer of heartbreak to an already difficult year. The emotional toll was immense, and I found myself needing to step away from my job last April to focus on my mental and physical health. I’ve been working part-time while healing, and I’m grateful to be feeling much better now under the care of a gastroenterologist. I’m ready to return to full-time work and have been searching for months, but the hiring process has been slow, and I haven’t yet found a position that will allow me to regain stability. My son Dylan is in his second year at Cuesta College and works part-time, covering many of his own expenses. He hopes to relocate to San Diego in the fall, and we want to remain living together until then if possible. Unfortunately, my savings are gone, and we are now at risk of eviction. I am working with our local homeless coalition for assistance with finding a less expensive place to live and some possible financial assistance, but my case is new and I'm unsure of what type of help, if any, they can afford me. I have always prided myself on being fiercely independent and have worked since I was 12 years old, so asking for help is incredibly difficult. But I owe it to Dylan to do everything I can to keep us housed and safe until our situation improves. Any donation given will go directly toward keeping us in our home and our utilities on until I can secure full-time employment. Your support will help us get through this transition and give us hope for the future. Thank you all for taking the time to read this story and for considering making a donation. I never, ever thought I'd be here (I've literally worked since I was 12 years old!) yet here I am. So many of you gave when Brent became sick and it meant the world to him and to us. It also helped so much with keeping him home throughout his illness which allowed him to pass peacefully and with dignity and never alone. We are eternally grateful for our community. With gratitude, Bronwyn
