Help Brock Stay Housed During Recovery

We are living in a time when resources and community are changing to another way of being. Capitalism isn't sustainable, and as the rich get richer, it looks like there is scarcity when actually we have way more resources than we think. As we move away from that scarcity to abundance, community and mutual aid will be fundamental in our rebuilding. We need to look at things in ways we haven't even imagined yet. It is in that spirit that we bring you this opportunity to begin or continue your mutual aid journey.

Over the past two years, since mold exposure in their home, Brock has been navigating ongoing health issues that have become disabling at times. Recently, they have been in a significant pain flare related to hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, lower back complications, and fibromyalgia. This has made it impossible to continue the physically demanding childcare work they had been relying on for income.

Brock is currently in treatment (acupuncture, chiropractic, and physical therapy) and doing everything they can to stabilize their health.

The immediate need is urgent: housing stability.

Brock is asking for support so they do not lose their housing or jeopardize a stable schedule with their child.

Their rent is $2,300/month. Even with alimony and child support, and after reducing expenses as much as possible (currently around $3,500/month, including SNAP and food bank support), there remains a significant gap. To cover rent for May 1, Brock needs to raise $2,400.

Any financial support—one-time or ongoing—will directly help Brock stay housed while they recover and rebuild sustainable income through their coaching practice.

Brock is committed to mutuality and is offering support in exchange where possible, including:

  • Coaching (life, parenting, or business)
  • Project organization and project management
  • Facilitation using the Technology of Participation (consensus-based planning and decision-making)
  • Youth development trainings
  • Administrative support or social media assistance
  • Group facilitation with an adult learning lens

In addition to financial support, Brock is actively seeking:

Short-term housing, house-sitting, or pet-sitting opportunities (no cats) for the summer to save toward more affordable housing
Referrals for coaching clients, workshops, or consulting opportunities
Longer term, Brock plans to move out of their current apartment due to the ongoing health impacts of mold exposure. They are working toward securing more sustainable and affordable housing that still meets their child Charlie’s need for stability and space, while continuing to grow a coaching practice that is both physically and financially sustainable.

If you have ideas, connections, or resources, those are also deeply appreciated.

Thank you for reading and for any way you’re able to show up—whether through financial support, sharing opportunities, or helping spread the word.
