Help Brizzy Walk with Confidence
Donation protected
Brizzy was born at 25 weeks gestation in 2011. I was pregnant with twins and due to medical negligence and me being so young and not knowing I had an “incompetent cervix,” I went into early labor. My girls were born weighing just 1.3 lbs and 1 lb. Unfortunately, my second twin passed away one month after being born due to renal failure. My first, Brizzy, survived but not without all the complications. She was in the NICU for a year and had heart surgery to repair holes in her heart. The doctors told us she would most likely never walk or talk or be mobile and would most likely be in a vegetative state.
Well, I never believed them! I knew my God was greater. Brizzy is an independently mobile girl now at 13 years old. However, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and an intellectual disability at 2 years old.
This Friday, Brizzy will have life-changing surgery. She will be having surgery at Scottish Rite in Dallas to repair her hips, knee, and foot so that she can have a “normal” walking gait pattern and she won’t fall so much anymore, allowing her to walk up and down sidewalks and steps. Brizzy will need to be non-weightbearing for 6 weeks. I will be taking 6 weeks off work to fully support her recovery.
While we do have insurance and it will be covering a big chunk of her surgery, her surgery is $138,000. The insurance is covering $85,000 of that and we will be left with the rest. Scottish Rite has Crayon Care which can wipe away 50% of the remaining costs. However, this will leave us with a balance of $25,000. We aren’t asking for all of it, but if you find it in your heart to help us with relief, we would be so grateful.
Thank you ❤️
