When we first saw him, we fell so in love with our cat. I honestly never thought I’d feel that kind of thing in my lifetime. He’s such an amazing being. He’s the kind of cat you’d read about in a history book. His name is Brixton. His purr is transcendent. It calms in a way that seems impossible.

I can’t believe we were just behind a door that says “Oncology.” Only a week ago just underwent what Brian calls a “radical mastectomy.” The scar takes my breath away. We’ll never let him see that in our faces, though, because we’re strong. Almost as strong as Brixton.

We decided on chemo. The doctor gives us really good odds because Brixton is a fighter. You wouldn’t believe how strong he is.
