Help Brittney pay for laser hair removal!
Hi everyone! Those of you that know me know how exhausted I am by now of having to shave my face and neck every day before leaving the house. As a trans woman, having stubble creates strong gender dysphoria, and I was cursed to have thick, dark, coarse body hair. Even when I do shave with fresh razors, I’m still feeling sandpapery stubble within 12 hours of shaving.
Insurance, of course, considers hair removal to be a cosmetic procedure, and is therefore not covered as gender-affirming care. For the face and neck, the cost of laser hair removal is roughly $2,000 before tax. Eventually I would like to do the rest of my body, especially my chest and legs—which require daily shaving as well—but just having my face done would save me literal days worth of time over my life, and save me $30+ a month spent on razors and shaving cream.
I’m not usually one to ask for money, especially when there are so many other worthy causes to spend your dollars on. If you’ve only got $5 to give, give it to a better cause than the hair on my face. However, if you do have enough to chip a few bucks my way to lessen this cost for me, I’d be immeasurably grateful. Thank you to my friend Kara C. for encouraging me to start this, and making me feel less guilty about asking for help for this. Whether you donate or not, I love all of you, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
Much love,
Brittney
