Help Brittney cover the costs of her cancer care
Anyone who knows Brittney knows that it is impossible to describe just how wonderful she is. Brittney is a devoted wife to Brian and magnificent mother to Bradley (age 8), a loving daughter, sister and aunt, excellent employee and supportive team member, and a truly fabulous friend to those of us privileged to know her. She is definitely one of the BEST of the BEST and after being diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma on June 20th, she needs our help!
For several months before her actual diagnosis, Brittney was experiencing headaches and then at the beginning of May they intensified. Urgent Care said she had a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics, but she did not improve. Then she also started having bouts of dizziness. A trip to her doctor resulted in a diagnosis of Noro Virus. Over the next few weeks, her symptoms continued with no relief and she was also having episodes of vomiting. Brittney continued to work until the 3rd week of May because “she didn’t want to let anyone down.” Then in June she started suffering excruciating neck pain. A trip to the ER was more frustrating than helpful – offering the diagnosis of a possible disc problem, sending her home with pain medication and the recommendation of physical therapy. At that point, her friends and co-workers were encouraging her to go back to the doctors out of concern that something was seriously wrong. Finally, on Monday, June 14th the critical nature of the situation could not be ignored - she and Brian were both told that they needed to seek more aggressive diagnostics. They went to the ER that night and insisted that someone do something, so they performed a CT scan and discovered that Brittney had a mass in her head. She was immediately transferred by ambulance to another hospital and underwent neurosurgery early the next morning.
After over a week in the ICU and then several additional days at an Acute Care Rehabilitation Center, Brittney was finally - and happily - able to come home on Tuesday, June 29th!!
Brittney is now going forward with treatment and will fight cancer with all her physical, emotional and spiritual strength, as well as, the love and support of her family, friends and community. SHE WILL WIN - and you can help to ensure her future is free from worry about the financial burden that compounds the battle she is facing. Even a small donation will be greatly appreciated!
Updates in Brittney's treatment and journey will be provided. Thank you all so much!
