Aloha everyone,
My name is Chylsea and I am Brittney Baker's crazy Hawaiian friend. Brittney has permitted me to set up a GoFundMe to assist in raising funds to help get her back on her feet after losing her home in an apartment fire.
On Thursday, May 29th, 2025, Brittney's apartment building in Auburn, CA caught fire. The fire originated in the apartment next door to hers and spread into her apartment. All four units in the building were affected by the fire. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire are unknown and are currently under investigation.
It is doubtful that Brittney will be able to return to her apartment in the near future, if at all. The responding firefighters have already confirmed that 90% of Brittney's belongings in the unit are not salvageable. As you can see in the pictures above and the article below, both of the upstairs units sustained considerable damage. She does not have renters' insurance on the apartment. She is a preschool teacher living paycheck to paycheck, making ends meet.
My goal is to raise $10,000 to help bridge the gap while she is figuring out the next steps in rebuilding her life. The funds will help cover a security deposit/first month rent and help replace everything in her home (furniture, food, clothing, cutlery, cookware, etc.)
If you can donate now, her Venmo is below:

I just wanted to add:
Brittney and I first met in the 10th grade at Placer High School. Our friendship has lasted 18 years and thousands of miles. We had the opportunity to be neighbors from 2020-2023. The three years that we lived as neighbors in those apartments were some of the best years lived there. It saddens me deeply to see these apartments and that community affected like this. Any donation is helpful and appreciated.
