Help Brittany's Family Through This Crisis
Donation protected
Hi I'm Kelsey Romero and I'm asking for everyone to come together and support Brittany and her family in this difficult time as she has been in and out of the hospital several times the last few months. I'll post updates as she is currently in ICU leaving her husband to navigate work, their two boys and being there for Brittany. This money will help with bills and support for her boys.

For those who do and those who don’t, I’ve been in the ICU for over 2 weeks. I was in acute respiratory failure and was hypoxic. So I was then placed on the ventilator. 2 days later I was off the ventilator. We were so excited! Unfortunately I took a turn for the worse that afternoon. My vocal cords had completely shut and I had to be emergently trached. It was a shock factor and hard to get used to but we were making it. I also had a horrible infection in my lungs they were trying to take care of as well. I was finally moved to a normal room so we thought it’d be uphill from there, until it wasn’t. The night I got moved was horrible. I didn’t sleep from pain. Then my breathing deteriorated again. I was taken to have a scope in the trach to see what was wrong. My trach had pushed to the side causing my pain. So I was then back in the icu having a trach change. As of now I’m still in icu. Hoping to be able to have my first sip of anything since I’ve been here. We’ve still got a rough road ahead but I know we will make it. I thank god for guiding the nurses and drs. Please keep us on your prayers. We will update as we are able ❤️

Unfortunately we are at a standstill. I still have a bad lung infection along with bronchitis. Due to the infection we are unable to downsize my trach at this time so I can speak. The pulmonologist is changing my antibiotic and also calling in infectious disease to see what they suggest, since I’ve had the infection since I’ve been here. We are all doing the best we can, but we are worn out. We really need a win, sooner rather than later! Just keep the prayers coming!

We have come to another bump in the road… my CT from yesterday showed an abscess in my chest. Surgery has been consulted on it. They are going to try and see if the antibiotics will clear it, but if not we will discuss other options. Praying we don’t have to go the surgery route. This has been one of the hardest things we’ve had to deal with. At this point we are doing well enough to keep our heads above water…
