In October 2025, my life changed forever when I was in a horrific car accident. I have spent nearly six months in the hospital, fighting for my life after surviving injuries that should have taken me from my boys. I "died" twice, but I am grateful every day that I get to open my eyes and be here for my family. My right hand has undergone multiple surgeries, my right knee has a torn ACL, broken patella, and torn meniscus, and my left leg had to be amputated above the knee. I also have a dangerous wound on my right hip, a seatbelt injury that nearly cut me in half, and scars from head to toe. My torso was cut right down the middle, and my throat was sliced. The physical, mental, and emotional challenges have been overwhelming, and I am still in the hospital until my wounds heal. The severity and unpredictability of my injuries mean I am not out of the woods yet, and I still face the possibility of mortality if things take a turn for the worse.

Through all of this, I am incredibly thankful for my family. My mom has been a rock, making sure my son Keegan is on track—he even signed an offer with Western Colorado University. My brother has also been my biggest support system, always by my side and helping me through the hardest moments. My ex-husband and his wife have stepped up to care for my boys without complaint. When tragedy strikes, you truly learn who cares for you, and I am grateful to everyone who has shown up for me. This could have ended so differently, and I thank God every day that it didn't.

Asking for help is the hardest part for me, but I need support. I am working on getting temporary disability, but there are so many things I will need that insurance won't cover, including a prosthetic and ongoing care. I don't know how much longer I will be in the hospital, but I also need to provide for my boys. So, I am putting my pride aside and reaching out.
